Essex Foot Health specialise in assisting clients in residential care homes and nursing homes who may be suffering from a chronic condition which impacts their mobility and mind set and contributes to common foot conditions being missed or left untreated. We understand that chronic diseases can have a profound impact on foot health for young as well as elderly car home residents which is why we offer our mobile professional foot health practitioner services to carry out assessments and treatment of common foot health issues so they do not spiral into something more serious.

Essex Foot Health are aware that care home residents may be suffering from one or more of the following physical or mental health conditions.

  • Alzheimer's Disease,  Arthritis,  Asthma,  Autism,  Cancer,  Cerebral Palsy,  Cystic Fibrosis,  Dementia,  Depression,  Diabetes,  Epilepsy,  Osteoporosis,  Parkinson's Disease,  Sickle Cell Anaemia,  Spina Bifida
  •  We always conduct a risk assessment and liaise with care home staff so our foot health check and treatment is less stressful and residents are able to simply stay where they are so that treatment can be undertaken without them having to leave their chair or bed. We also perform home visits https://www.essexfoothealth.co.uk/foot-health-home-visit-essex.html for care home residents who are suffering from mobility or mental health issues which prevent them from attending an Essex foot clinic easily.
  •  Essex Foot Health ensure our equipment, towels, dressings, and creams etc. are carried with us so all we require is a private space for our foot health assessment and treatment to be carried out. All our instruments are cleaned and sterilised at 134 degrees for two minutes on a full 20-minute cycle to ensure they are completely sterile and safe for use.
  • If you have a care home resident with dementia or diabetes who has developed issues like ingrown toenails, corns, or infections, they may not be able to tell you straight away. We understand that people with dementia struggle to communicate discomfort, which often turns into agitation or exacerbates symptoms of dementia. We are experienced in dealing with clients with dementia, learning disability, diabetes or have any other chronic condition listed above. About half of all people with diabetes have diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage), which can cause loss of feeling in their feet.

Nerve damage, along with poor blood flow, puts residents at risk for developing a foot ulcer or ingrown toenail which could easily get infected if left untreated. It is important that care home residents feet are checked regularly for any health problems.
