Essex Foot Health Prioritise Your Health & Safety As we work with the most vulnerable groups in terms of dealing with clients with dementia, diabetes, mobility issues, learning difficulties etc in either their own home, care home, hospice, residential care home or assisted living accommodation we take the greatest care to ensure that we carry out a risk assessment before attending.
We wear masks or visors, gloves, and all our equipment is sterile. All of our instruments are cleaned and sterilised at 134 degrees on a full 20-minute cycle. We bring our own towels, creams, and medical equipment. We liaise with inhouse staff to ensure that we are also in keeping with their health & safety policies as well as with Government guidelines. I contacted Essex Foot Health last week as my ingrowing toenail had suddenly become very painful and inflamed. They fitted me in quickly and came to my home as my toe was so swollen, I didn’t want to drive. They wore all the relevant PPE and were very kind and reassuring. After examining my foot, they raised it and trimmed it down. The relief was immediate! They also spotted a couple of verruca’s I hadn’t even noticed. Thanks guys!
A friend recommended Essex Foot Health as I was worried about my mothers swollen feet. She said they visit my mother in her care home as she has dementia and diabetes. I was really worried about her ankles as they had become very swollen, probably as she does not get up and walk around enough. They reviewed her medications with the care home staff and examined her feet in the privacy of her room. They were so calm and reassuring my mother was at ease, she doesn’t always react well to strangers. I was so relieved to not have to remove her from the care home and take her to a clinic or surgery as she would have hated that. They suggested some light stretching exercises be added to her routine to keep the blood flowing and some cold compresses Apparently water retention is a common side effect of some medications and physical inactivity. The care home staff were impressed with their knowledge and have promised to monitor her condition closely. The swelling improved after a couple of days and has not returned.
